New Vehicle Information Statement (NVIS) |

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) will provide NVIS to companies that manufacture/import trailers. Companies that manufacture/import more than 500 trailers annually are responsible for reproducing their own NVIS from a sample provided by the MTO. To request one sample NVIS, or if less than 500 are required, we require a written request, on company letterhead, that clearly indicates the following information:
* If the vehicles meet the federal safety requirements, Transport Canada may then issue a Ministerial Authorization authorizing the manufacturer to affix an assigned National Safety Mark (NSM) to the vehicles. Each company gets their own unique NSM. If you do not have a National Safety Mark the manufacturer should contact:
All of the above documents may be mailed or faxed to the following address: Ministry of Transportation Requests for NVIS forms are processed in the order they are received but in all cases will be filled within 15 working days. If you have an urgent request for a NVIS, please call the Licensing Administration Office at the above number prior to faxing your request. Trailer manufacturers may obtain further information from Transport Canada: Trailer Information Guide. This site has all the necessary information links for all trailer manufacturers and importers. The Trailer Information Guide includes Vehicle Identification Number configuration. |
