MTO Demolishes Vacant Properties in South Windsor

Windsor — To address safety and community concerns, the Ministry of Transportation today began demolishing six buildings on Huron Church, Talbot, Cousineau and Malden Roads.

The properties are owned by the ministry and are identified as potential sites for the Windsor-Essex Parkway, which is awaiting federal and provincial environmental assessment approval.

Jones Demolition Inc. is demolishing 2701, 2723, and 2960 Huron Church Road, 4540 Malden Road, 595 Talbot Road and 1620 Cousineau Road. Demolition work will not impact traffic.  The value of the contract is approximately $63,600. Work is expected to be complete by August 31, 2009.

QUICK FACTS

  • Construction of The Windsor-Essex Parkway is dependent on approvals from Ontario and Canada, other required approvals and the acquisition of property. Buildings will need to be removed regardless of future use of the property.
