Essex County Road 22 Improvements

Essex County Road 22 is a major artery the Town of Lakeshore to E.C. Row Expressway in Windsor. Improving access in this corridor will benefit local travellers, businesses and commercial vehicles.

The widening of Essex County Road 22 from two lanes to four lanes from Lakeshore Boulevard to Patillo Road., including major improvements to the Pike Creek bridge, will provide improved traffic safety and capacity, and better highway access to the border for regional commercial and commuter traffic.

Federal and provincial funding for this project was announced on June 28, 2008.

Current Project Status

  • Construction of road improvements at the Patillo Road intersection began on August 15, 2008 and will be completed in Summer 2009.
  • Construction of road improvements from West Pike Creek Road to East Pike Creek Road, including the reconstruction and widening of the Pike Creek bridge began on August 15, 2008 and will be complete by Fall 2009.

Next Steps

  • Detail design of road improvements from Lakeshore Boulevard to West Pike Creek Road will begin in Fall 2008 with construction beginning in Spring 2010.
