Commuters will soon be able to tap onto transit with the new PRESTO card – the first regional fare card for public transit in Ontario.

The Government of Ontario, GO Transit, Ottawa’s OC Transpo System and eight municipal transit partners in the GTA are encouraging public transit use by providing commuters with a more convenient way to get to their destinations.

The PRESTO card is a revolutionary way to ride public transit.  It is the size of a gift or debit card so it fits easily into your wallet, purse or pocket. The computer chip in your card communicates with the card reader in transit stations or on transit vehicles. The system calculates the lowest fare for your trip, and deducts the fare from the balance stored on your card – all in less than one second.

No more searching for exact change. No more pockets full of different types
of tickets, transfers or monthly passes.

PRESTO – a smart little card that does very big things.
