The BASINOPT Program version 2.70

This program is for the design of detention ponds. It can be used to determine the optimum basin geometry (contours) and outlet structure configuration to satisfy maximum allowable water surface and discharge limits for up to six storm events simultaneously.

BAS (Basin Analysis System)

BAS is a hydraulic software tool developed for design, analysis and optimization of side-weirs and flow-by retarding basins. Quasi-unsteady calculations optimize the hydraulics of the basin-channel system, including side-weir, channel, outlets, storm drain inlets and emergency spillway, for each main channel hydrograph time increment.

This program calculates partial volumes of horizontal or sloping cylinders. It is designed to get storage volumes for stormwater detention systems using single or multiple diameter pipes for storage.

Filter Drain

Filter Drain is a computer program that allows design of filtration and/or an underdrain system of stormwater retention/detention systems. The stormwater retention/detention system can be ponds, lakes, underground trenches, wetlands, canals, rivers etc from which water is discharged via perforated pipes embedded in filter material.

Hydraflow Hydrographs version 6

This program determines surface runoff using SCS TR-20, Rational and SBUH methods with built-in SCS 24-hr storms or synthetic design storms based on IDF curves. It includes a built-in TR-55 Tc calculator with printed report. The program can combines hydrographs, divert hydrographs by constant Q, ratio, or to any pond structure. It will route hydrographs through channels using Modified Att-Kin, or through wet or dry detention ponds. It can compute outlet flows for detention ponds for up to 8 user-definable outlet structures per pond and can handle multi-stage outlet works. The program includes automatic batch run operation for multiple return periods. Storage values can be computed from contour areas, bottom area / side slope or a built-in pipe volume calculator. HydroRout version 1.0

HydroRout calculates outlet hydrographs from hydraulic storage facilities based on an input hydrograph, storage facility geometry, initial water surface elevation, and outlet hydraulic characteristics.

MODRET is a computer program that calculates unsaturated and saturated infiltration losses from stormwater retention/detention ponds in unconfined aquifers. Other capabilities include:

  • Generation of single watershed stormwater runoff hydrographs using SCS Unit Hydrograph, Rational and Santa Barbara Urban Hydrograph methods with graphical display of the results.
  • Routing of runoff hydrographs (MODRET-generated and/or others) through infiltration losses of ponds and generation of infiltration routed hydrographs.
  • Specification of overflow devices (weirs, orifices and rating curves) for the stormwater retention/detention ponds and calculation of total volume and peak discharges.
  • Generation of ground-water elevation cross-sectional graphics with ZOOM capabilities.
  • Generation of XYZ data files which can be used by other programs (SURFER, AutoCAD, etc.) to generate ground-water contour maps and 3-D surfaces.
  • Generation of report-quality tabular and graphical printouts of input and output data.

PondPack version 7 for Windows

PondPack is capable of modelling gauged and synthetic rainfall, runoff hydrographs, culverts, channels, pond sizing, outlet structures with tailwater effects, interconnected pond modelling, diversions, and tidal outfalls.

QHM is a continuous watershed quantity and quality simulation model intended for watershed management and stormwater design. It can be used for selection and sizing of stormwater BMPs, particularly flow control and treatment ponds.

Watershed Modelling

Watershed Modelling is a drainage program to determine runoffs using industry-standard techniques. It can model flood control structures such as detention basins with various outlet structures. It can also import hydrographs from an ASCII file and use actual or synthetic rainfall distributions.
