2006 Accomplishments - Southern Highways Program

Part I: Accomplishments 2006

In 2006, the Ontario government invested $745 million to expand and repair highway infrastructure in Southern Ontario.

Some of the projects completed include:

Widening Highway 401 from four to six-lanes from Manning Road to Puce Road near Windsor: Widening this stretch of highway improved safety and traffic flow on one of Ontario?s most important trade corridors. This was a federal/provincial cost shared project under the Strategic Highway Infrastructure Program (SHIP).

Highway 400 between Highway 401 and Maple Leaf Road in Toronto: Improvements such as resurfacing, bridge repairs, highway lighting, median barriers and improvements at the Highway 400 off-ramp/Jane Street intersection ensures traffic is moving safely and efficiently through this area.
