The Ontario Ministry of Transportation provides winter driving tips on how to safely respond to snow and ice while traveling on Ontario’s highways.

The ministry keeps roads and highways safe during winter driving by using the latest technology such as pre-wetted salt to melt snow and ice faster and sensors to monitor road and weather conditions, so snow removal equipment can be deployed when needed.

Drivers should take the time to winter-proof their vehicles. Proper preparation will help with the challenge of winter driving and increase safety.

For the most recent road conditions across Ontario, please call the Ministry of Transportation’s information line, toll-free at 1-800-268-4686, or dial 416-235-4686 if calling within the Greater Toronto Area.
