The new test site is a 27 km stretch along Hwy. 21, between Springmount and Southhampton. The area is marked with Maintenance 2001 signs.

RWIS meterological sensors and video cameras collect and relay data to the patrol room.

Anti-icer liquid spray system has a 5670 litre tank. With separate nozzle controls, up to 3 lanes at a time can be sprayed with a liquid anti-icing agent.

Pre-wet system sprays liquid brine or other solution on the salt or sand as it is discharged from the separate spreader.

Located at the patrol yard, fresh water is filtered through salt to make a 23.3% salt water solution.

This towed device records, on a continuous basis, friction of driving surfaces. It utilizes a variable slip method to determine the peak friction level.
