Construction of the Highway Photographs

  1. Overview of construction on the new Hwy 416/401 Interchange and of the existing 16/401 Interchange, with the existing bridge to the USA in the background (view from north to south)
  2. Installation of 'Hi-Load' falsework of the N-16 ramp and SBL connection structure
  3. Completed N-16 ramp and SBL connection structure with removal of 'Hi-Load' falsework in progress
  4. Installation of reinforced earth concrete wall panels at the east abutment of the N-16 ramp structure
  5. Installation of 4300 mm diameter corrugated steel pipe (CSP) culvert to provide access for snowmobiles on the Provincial Top Trail E105 under future 416 south bound lanes

  11. Subdrain installation to remove moisture under the roadway which will eliminate the freezing and expansion forces that have cracked the roadway in the past.
  12. Concrete removal on the old deck of the northbound lanes of 416 (previously HWY 16).
  13. Landscaping work - Snow hedges are constructed to reduce drifting.
