The four-laning of Highway 11 has been progressing concurrently at both ends of the Huntsville-North Bay corridor.

At the present time, four-laning extends north from Huntsville to Katrine, and south from North Bay to South River.

The four-lane section of Highway 11 that extends northward from south of Emsdale to Katrine, a distance of 6 km, was opened to traffic in the fall of 2005.
