Has There Been Public Involvement?
Public participation is an important element in any highway improvement project. The Ministry of Transportation has sought public input and consultation throughout the study of potential improvements to the Highway 11 corridor.
Since 1988, Ministry of Transportation personnel have hosted 70 public information sessions, between Gravenhurst and Callander, to present planning study updates and receive public feedback.
At each stage in planning and following every public information session, MTO planners review the options, to ensure that potential impacts to residents and their environment are minimized.
Typically, those in attendance at MTO information sessions are interested in knowing how proposed highway improvements might impact their property and how they will achieve access to the highway. Other topics of community interest include how four laning can provide opportunities for increased economic development in tourism and industry, and road safety.
