Background
Highway 69/400 is a major transportation gateway linking Northern Ontario with the southern portion of the province. It extends from Sudbury in the north to Highway 401 in the south.
The existing two lane roadway serves as a long distance connection for people and goods between northern and southern population centres, as a strategic link in the Trans-Canada Highway System, and as a route for local commuter traffic.
During the summer months and increasingly year round, Highway 69/400 becomes the main access point for tourists who vacation in the Parry Sound, Georgian Bay and Muskoka Lakes areas.
