Highway 403

HOV lanes will operate on Highway 403, in both directions between Highway 407 and Highway 401.

Highway 404

An HOV lane will operate southbound on Highway 404 from Beaver Creek (north of Highway 7) in York to Highway 401 in Toronto. At Highway 401, southbound HOV drivers will be able to take a new HOV-only ramp to connect directly to the westbound Highway 401 collector lanes. Southbound Highway 404 HOV drivers who do not want to connect to the 401 WB collectors will exit the HOV lane in advance in order to use the appropriate highway exit ramps along with general traffic.

Future Projects

The province is considering the introduction of HOV lanes on other 400-series highways in south-central Ontario and Ottawa. HOV initiatives would be among the alternatives considered at all stages of planning and design of highway improvements.

New HOV lane construction is currently underway on two highways:

Highway 404 (Toronto - York) - A northbound HOV lane is under construction on Highway 404 from north of Highway 401 Highway 7, and is anticipated to open by summer 2007.

Queen Elizabeth Way (Halton) - Preliminary construction is underway to add new HOV lanes to the Queen Elizabeth Way between Guelph Line in Burlington and Trafalgar Road in Oakville
