Federal Government

  • Environment Canada, a Federal Government Department, has a website that features a variety of information on GHG, the greenhouse effect, frequently asked questions, data tables of Canada's GHG emissions, information on the Kyoto Protocol and latest information and tools for measuring, verifying and reporting facility GHG emissions.
  • Environment Canada also provides information on What you can do to reduce waste, save resources and prevent pollution.
  • Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), a Federal Government Department, collects and shares information on fuel efficiency and environmentally- responsible vehicles and practices for commercial use. Their website contains information on alternative fuels and alternative fuel vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, a comparison of the fuel efficiency of different makes and models, advice on how energy-efficient vehicles and business practices can improve productivity, and how energy conservation and efficiency can help save the environment.
  • Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) also provides information about how anti-idling can help to save fuel, money and the environment.
  • ecoENERGY for Fleets is a program offered by Natural Resources Canada introducing fleets to energy-efficient practices that can reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
  • FleetSmart is a component of the ecoENERGY for Fleets program, offering free practical advice on how energy-efficient vehicles and business practices can reduce fleet operating costs, improve productivity and increase your competitiveness.
  • ETV Canada is a division of OCETA (Ontario Centre for Environmental Technology Advancement), one of three Canadian Environmental Technology Advancement Centres established by the federal government as a private sector, not-for-profit company to strengthen and grow Canada's environmental industry. Its website offers an assessment process for verifying the environmental performance claims associated with projects and programs, as well as technologies and technological processes.

  • United States Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay program identifies products and services to reduce transportation related emissions. Its website provides buying and driving tips, idling reduction strategies and a freight logistics environmental and energy tracking performance model to help current fleets assess their efficiency and quantify the environmental benefits of various technologies and practices.
  • California Air Resources Board (CARB) is an agency of the California legislature whose mandate is to improve air quality in that state, which it accomplishes by setting and monitoring air quality standards and by setting and enforcing emission standards for motor vehicles, fleets and consumer products. Its website provides information on the aforementioned, as well as identifying incentive and grant programs for actions that reduce emissions from vehicles and equipment.
